Thoughts for the Week

It is not always easy to obey the Word of God. It is contrary to so
much of our culture and the common practices of our day. This is
when it is important to remember that the contention between the
world and the church is not surprising and is, in fact, expected.
Jesus said in Matthew 10, “ 34 "Do not think that I have come to bring
peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I
have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her
mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law” (Matthew
10:34-35). This does not mean that Jesus wants families to fight with
each other. It means that if we are being obedient to God, there will be
those who criticize us, hurt us, actively work against us, and even
betray us in our life.
This week, think about what it means to be obedient in our context.
How can we allow God to help us through the obstacles to our faith?
