Scripture - Colossians 1:15-20 (CSB)

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities— all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and by him all things hold together. 18 He is also the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile everything to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

✍️ Reflection Questions:

  • What relationships, possessions, activities, or pursuits have I prioritized over my relationship with Christ?

  • How can I make Jesus first in my life this week?

Personal Notes:

Devotional: Truths We Live By – The Deity of Christ

Monday – Honoring the Son

Scripture: John 5:22-23 (CSB)

“The Father, in fact, judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son, so that all people will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

God has given Jesus authority over all things including the salvation of man. He desires that we give Jesus the same honor we give the Father.

Areas of focus: Time, Fellowship, Bible Study

Prayer: Spend time praying over one or more of today’s areas of focus above.

Seek and ask how can I honor Jesus with my (

) today?

Tuesday – Trusting the Sovereign Christ

Scripture: Mark 2:5-7 (CSB)

Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” But some of the scribes were sitting there, thinking to themselves: “Why does He speak like this? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?

Jesus is sovereign over all. He has the power to forgive sins and heal the sick. As we do life, we deal with sin and sickness each day. Spend time lifting someone up, in Faith to Jesus, for forgiveness or healing today.

Areas of focus: Children, Parents, Church members, others

Prayer: Spend 5 – 10 minutes praying over one or more of today’s areas of focus above.

Jesus, I lift up my (

) in faith to you today. Trusting you for forgiveness (healing) where they stand in need. I pray for their relationship with you…….

Wednesday – Rightly viewing Christ and Creation

Scripture: Colossians 1:16 (CSB)

“For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities— all things have been created through Him and for Him.

Though the world would have us believe that everything exist to make man happy and bring satisfaction in our lives, this is not consistent with God’s word. We must understand that God’s creation is for His glory and His good pleasure.

Areas of focus: my possessions, all of God’s creation

Prayer: Spend today praying over one or more of today’s areas of focus above.

Jesus, help me to live with a right understand and view of (

) today. In those areas of my life that I have placed your creation above my relationship with you, please reveal those areas to me and give me your guidance in prioritizing my time with you.

Thursday – Jesus is Sovereign over all

Scripture: Hebrews 1:2-3 (CSB)

“In these last days, He has spoken to us by ⌊His⌋ Son. God has appointed Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him.  The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Jesus is the exact duplicate of the “nature” of God, making him exactly equal to God in every attribute. Moreover, he continually upholds the universe “by his word of power,” something that only God could do.

The greatest need we have in life is to know Jesus! Paul’s prayer for the church at Colossae was for them to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,  so they may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing ⌊to Him⌋, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God (Col.1:9-10)

(May your pursuit today be to grow in the knowledge of God and His will.)

Areas of focus: Heir, Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer
Prayer: Spend 5 – 10 minutes praying over today’s area of focus above.

Jesus, help me to see you and know you as (

). I trust in you and the power of your word to help me grow in the knowledge of God.

Friday – Living in Relationship with God

Scripture: Colossians 1:19-20 (CSB)

“For God was pleased ⌊to have⌋ all His fullness dwell in Him,  and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross— whether things on earth or things in heaven.”

Paul stresses that God is not divided between many intermediaries, but He dwells completely in Jesus. This is why Jesus (the God Man) was qualified to complete the mission of the Cross. Jesus endured God’s holy justice and gave us an opportunity for reconciliation.

Areas of focus: Peace, Reconciliation, Relationship
Action: Jesus has done the work of reconciliation and given us (believers) the ministry of reconciliation.

I will look for opportunities today to demonstrate a life lived in fellowship with God the Father and His Son Jesus, so someone else may enjoy fellowship with God as well.
