Exodus 12:11 NLT

“These are your instructions for eating this meal: Be fully dressed, wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the LORD’s Passover.

Eat the meal with an expectation of deliverance.

Oppressed people don’t think like this.

Exodus 12:31 NLT

Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron during the night. “Get out!” he ordered. “Leave my people—and take the rest of the Israelites with you! Go and worship the LORD as you have requested.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to be free from the oppressor of your life.

But God has a better idea of deliverance – back pay for 430 years of slavery.

Exodus 12:35 NLT

And the people of Israel did as Moses had instructed; they asked the Egyptians for clothing and articles of silver and gold.

Psalm 105:37 KJV

He brought them forth also with silver and gold: And there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to be free from your oppressor and take all his wealth.

But God has a better idea of deliverance.

Exodus 14:28 NLT

Then the waters returned and covered all the chariots and charioteers—the entire army of Pharaoh. Of all the Egyptians who had chased the Israelites into the sea, not a single one survived.

Exodus 14:30 NLT

That is how the LORD rescued Israel from the hand of the Egyptians that day. And the Israelites saw the bodies of the Egyptians washed up on the seashore.

God’s idea of deliverance is to free you from slavery, restore what your oppressor has stolen, and have you see the enemy of your life completely destroyed.

Romans 6:5-6 NLT

5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.
6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to be free from the oppressor of your life.

But God has a better idea of freedom. He made you heirs to His kingdom, and you are no longer slaves.

Galatians 4:6-7 NLT

6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”
7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to be free and made an heir.

But God has a better idea of sonship. He gave you the authority of the name of Jesus.

Philippians 2:9-10 NLT

9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to be free and made heirs and have the authority of His name.

But God has a better idea of living in health through His resurrection power.

Romans 8:11 NLT

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to be free, made heirs, and have the authority of His name and resurrection power.

But God has a better idea of belonging to Him.

Colossians 1:22 NLT

Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to live on earth fighting our flesh.

But God has a better idea by cutting away our sinful nature.

Colossians 2:11, 13 NLT

11 When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature.
13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to deal with the Law for our salvation.

But God has a better idea by satisfying the Law in Jesus.

Colossians 2:14 NKJV

having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH… to have to fight the devil.

But God has a better idea of dealing with Satan. He completely humiliated and defeated him.

Colossians 2:15 NLT

In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.
