Part 2: Why Do I Worry?

We tend to experience worry in our minds.

We generally experience anxiety in our bodies.

Things we often worry about…

  • Finances
  • Food
  • Fitness
  • Fashion
  • Future

(Matthew 6:25) Therefore I tell you, do not worry …

(Matthew 6:24) … You cannot serve both God and money.

(Matthew 6:25) Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. …

(Matthew 6:24) Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself…

(Matthew 6:26) Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

  • Concern focuses on challenges and moves you to action.

  • Worry focuses on what’s beyond our control and results in inaction.

(Matthew 6:27) Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

    What you’re worried about today…

    1) May

    .

⟹ 91% of your worries will not come true.
⟹ Less than 10% of what you worry about will happen.
⟹ Worry will rob you of peace 100% of the time.

    2) May happen and

    .

    3) May happen and

    .

(Matthew 6:33) But seek first [God’s] kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

  • What you reveals where you .

    Kingdom-Minded People…

    1)

    themselves of God’s faithfulness.

(Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV) The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”

    2)

    that God is good.

(Philippians 1:6 ESV) And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

    3)

    control of the outcome.
(Matthew 11:28-30) Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
