“I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” —Luke 2:10b (NIV)
He will stand and shepherd his flock…and they will live securely. —Micah 5:4 (NIV)
2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”…4 He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. —Micah 5:2, 4 (NIV)
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. —Psalm 23 (NIV)
Why Don’t We Feel Secure?
1. We try to save ourselves.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. —Isaiah 53:6 (NIV)
JESUS SAVES US AND CALLS US HOME.
2. We lose our way.
9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 10 …For when I am weak, then I am strong. —2 Corinthians 12:9a, 10b (NIV)
