A. REQUIREMENTS OF AUTHENTIC DISCIPLESHIP

1. Personal REVELATION

Disciples must have a personal relationship with

.

We cannot disciple someone who has not submitted their life to Christ through

.

Personal revelation –

“… Who do men say that I am?…”
“You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God… For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 16:13-17

“… you must be born again…” John 3:1-8

As a disciple, we need a personal revelation of Who Jesus is in

. It is not enough to attend church, we must know Jesus personally. Our hearts should be set upon a lifelong pursuit of walking with and growing in Jesus.

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him (Jesus Christ).” Ephesians 1:17

2. Personal

We must give time for relationships with one

that go beyond the classroom or sanctuary – relationships between disciplers and disciplees.

Jesus’ life and relationships with His disciples –

“…that they might be with Him… Luke 6:12-13 & Mark 3:14

Jesus chose disciples to not just sit in a classroom, but to be

Him. They walked with Him, observed Him, were taught by Him, and served in ministry with Him.

The result of the disciples being with Jesus is evident –

“Now when they (the Pharisees) saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13

WE BECOME LIKE THOSE WHOM WE SPEND TIME WITH.

When we

time with Jesus, we will BECOME more like Him.

Paul’s life –

TIME SPENT WITH DISCIPLES Acts 20:17-38

THE ACTION OF AUTHENTIC DISCIPLESHIP REQUIRES RELATIONSHIP. ALL MINISTRY FLOWS FROM RELATIONSHIP.

3. Personal

1) A personal resolve by leaders to disciple any and all whom God gives them, preparing them for:

• A fruitful life of walking with Jesus
• A lifetime of making disciples
• Their potential departure (to other nations)

2) A personal resolve by the disciple to enter into a lifelong adventure of:

• Being a disciple committed to

for Christ, Christ and being into the image of Christ.
• Making more disciples everywhere they go

WE DO NOT MAKE DISCIPLES WHO ARE LIKE US, WE MAKE DISCIPLES FOR JESUS SO THEY WILL BE LIKE HIM.
