A Gift for the King: Part 3
The Sacrifices We Make | Matthew 2:13-15; 19-23

What does say about our gifts?

A gift involves sacrifice.

Lies about Sacrifice

• Sacrifice will rob us of joy
• Sacrifice is possible without a cost
• FOMO = our sacrifice will cause us to miss out

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem… Matthew 2:1 NIV

When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:10-11 NIV

Sacrifice reveals the of the heart.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 NIV

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV

A sacrificial gift produces great gain.

“Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me will find it.” Matthew 16:24-25 NIV

I WILL sacrifice to give my gift to the King.
