Today’s Story:
When It Doesn’t Stop Hurting
MAIN IDEA:
His story brings hope to our story.
When it doesn’t stop hurting…keep letting Jesus help you.
Matthew 11:25-30
25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. (ie. There are things we might not understand. But he reveals to those who come to Him what they need to know) 27b… No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 “Come to me (ie. I am the answer), all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (ie. Answers? Not always…but rest? Yes). 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” NIV

1. Christ Also Suffered And Hurt
1 Peter 2:21; 23
Christ Is Our Example
21 For you have been called for this purpose, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you would follow in His steps…23 [a]and while being abusively insulted, He did not insult in return; while suffering, He did not threaten, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously NASB
2. Jesus Comforts Us In Our Hurts
2 Corinthians 1:3b-5
3 God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. NLT
3. It is in the hurt that God and our faith become even more real.
2 Corinthians 1:8b-10
8 We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10 He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. NIV
When we are hurt – we have 2 simple choices as a response:
Get bitter. Get better.

2. Guard your head and heart as you process your hurt.
3. Your story isn’t over…God is going to use your hurt to bring healing and growth in your life.
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. NIV
