Isaiah 33:1-24
33:9 | Barren wastelands were a result of God’s judgment on Israel’s sin. Sharon stands for a famously fertile and beautiful plain; Bashan is the lush land east of the Jordan River; and Carmel is the fertile mountain range that juts into the Mediterranean Sea.
33:13 | This beckoning to Jerusalem for those afar off and those who are near has worldwide significance. God’s powerful acts toward Israel in the past would cause the nations to stream to Zion in Isaiah’s future.
33:19-20 | The worshipers would look upon Zion and see no foreign officials. They would observe the appointed feasts (the annual worship festivals) with joy. The tabernacle recalls the days of Israel in the wilderness. Never would God’s people wander again; He would set them securely and permanently in their land.
