  • We become more like whatever we worship.

Why do the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven; He does whatever pleases Him. But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them. Psalm 115:2-8

WORSHIP IS OUR NATURAL

TO WHAT WE LOVE THE MOST.

They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. Romans 1:25

“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” Exodus 20:4-6

Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. John 4:20-21

But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. John 4:23

This Week’s Power Verse

For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:24

WE SHOULD LOOK MORE AND MORE LIKE

.

How can I keep the second commandment?

1)

my idols.

2)

my idols.

Little children (believers, dear ones), guard yourselves from idols—[false teachings, moral compromises, and anything that would take God’s place in your heart]. 1 John 5:21 (AMP)

“Get rid of all your idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing.” Genesis 35:2

3)

to worship anyone or anything but God alone.

“For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’” Matthew 4:10

For He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. Colossians 1:13-15
