DIVINE DIRECTION

Genesis 26:1 KJV

1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

Going to Gerar in the first place was a good move, even though Isaac at that time wasn’t sure it was God’s will. Sometimes we are uncertain about God’s will. It’s clear that Isaac had a strong relationship with the Lord and felt he was making the best decision at the moment to care for his family.

ISAAC’S VISITATION FROM THE LORD

Genesis 26:2-3 KJV

2 And the LORD APPEARED unto him, and said, GO NOT DOWN INTO EGYPT; DWELL IN THE LAND WHICH I SHALL TELL THEE OF:

1. Go not down into Egypt — A Closed door. This was in Isaac’s mind.

2. Dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of — God promised to give Isaac clear direction

3 SOJOURN IN THIS LAND, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

1. Sojourn in this land — CLEAR DIRECTION

2. I will be with thee — COMFORT

3. I will bless thee — ASSURANCE

4. Unto thy seed I will give thee all these countries — YOUR FUTURE IS SECURED

5. In thy seed all nations of the earth will be blessed — VISION — I WILL USE YOUR SEED

GOD’S REASON FOR BLESSING ISAAC

Genesis 26:5 KJV

5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

1. Because Abraham obeyed my voice, — IT STARTED WITH YOUR FATHER. YOU CAN’T TAKE CREDIT. WHAT YOU ARE RECEIVING IS BAKED IN OR GRAND FATHERED IN.

2. and kept my charge

3. My commandments

4. My statutes

5. and my laws.

ISAAC OBEYED

Genesis 26:6 KJV

6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar.

ISAAC’S FAITH IN ACTION

Genesis 26:12-14 KJV

12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

Genesis 26:13 NIV

13 The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.

14 For he had possession of flocks (sheep), and possession of herds (cattle), and great store of servants (employees): and the Philistines envied him.

1. Isaac sowed in that land — (He sowed in the place where he obeyed the voice of God. This is a winning combination).

2. And received in the same year one hundred fold — a supernatural harvest.

3. And the Lord Blessed Him

4. And the man waxed great

5. He went forward — He made progress — He continued to prosper

6. Until he became very powerful

7. He had possessions of flocks

8. And possession of herds

9. And a great store of servants

10. And the Philistines envied him — These Philistines were envying Isaac over a blessing that almost cost him his life. The blessing on Isaac’s life had everything to do with God’s perfect plan. They had no idea why Isaac was so blessed and favored by the Lord. Folks have no idea of the price that was paid for you to walk in the blessings of God. It was Isaac who allowed his dad to tie him up and was about to sacrifice him.
