“The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.” —Matthew 16:1-3 (NIV)
“Jesus returned to the Sea of Galilee and climbed a hill and sat down. A vast crowd brought to him people who were lame, blind, crippled, those who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them before Jesus, and he healed them all. The crowd was amazed! Those who hadn’t been able to speak were talking, the crippled were made well, the lame were walking, and the blind could see again!” —Matthew 15:29-31 (NLT)
“Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us… What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?” —Matthew 24:3 (NLT)
Jesus gives us some signs predicting the end:
Sign #1: Widespread
“Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many.” —Matthew 24:4-5 (NLT)
“And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.” —Matthew 24:11-12 (NLT)
Sign #2: Growing
“You will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other.” —Matthew 24:9-10 (NLT)
Sign #3: Massive
“And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come… For there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again. In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.” —Matthew 24:6-22 (NLT)
Sign #4: Worldwide
“And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.” —Matthew 24:14 (NLT)
So be prepared, because you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.” —Matthew 24:42 (NLT)
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9 (NIV)
