The Blessing of Persecution

Matthew 5:10-12

10Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:10-12 (ESV)

Take home Truth:
Persecution is a normal part of following Jesus and how we endure it proclaims the uniqueness of God’s people in the world.

Persecution happens.
Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 2 Timothy 3:12 (ESV)

Three realities of persecution:
a) Persecution confronts our desire for approval.
b) Persecution confronts our desire for comfort.
c) Persecution is endured through perspective.

Two promises to the persecuted:
• The HOPE of the ultimate comfort.
• The HOPE of the highest approval.
