Colossians (Part 11): Happily Ever After
1. Once upon a time…Christ was raised to sit at God’s right hand. (Colossians 3:1)
a. Seated in Authority as King (Psalm 110:1-2)
b. Seated in Accomplishment as Priest (Hebrews 10:11-14)
c. Seated as Assistance for Believers (Psalm 60:5, Hebrews 4:14-16)
2. Once upon a time…Believers died with Christ and are raised with Him. (Colossians 3:1-2, Colossians 2:20-21, Colossians 2:12, Ephesians 2:6)
a. Our lives are hidden in and with Him. (Colossians 3:3, John 10:27-29)
When He appears, we’ll appear with Him in glory (and live happily ever after). (Colossians 3:4, Heb 12:1-2)
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- Living the Story. In what ways can the “once upon a time” and “happily ever after” of the Gospel shape your daily routines? What does it mean for you to live out the Gospel story in your home/workplace/school/hobbies/etc?
- What kinds of personal transformation have you experienced that reflect the Gospel’s impact?
- How have you seen others in your small group live out the story, the values, or the priorities of the Gospel?
- Relationships. How can the Gospel transform your approach to difficult relationships?
- Seated at God’s Right Hand. In what areas of your life would reflecting on Jesus seated as King or Priest change your story?
- Mission. How can living out the Gospel story influence our community? How have you seen opportunities to share the Gospel arise?
