JOY CULTURE
1. Happy is NOT Un-Holy and Fun is Spiritual.
Because our goal is to be NATURALLY SUPERNATURAL, we must change our minds about fun. We need to remove the idea that we go inside the church to be holy and we go outside the church to have fun. (be happy)
Psa 30:5
5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. —NKJV
- Weeping is spiritual, and so is Joy!
Pro 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. —.
2. Biblical happiness will never lead you contrary to the WORD of God.
Pro 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. —.
John 10:10
A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. —.
- Fun does not have to contradict the Holiness of God.
3. Find The Joy In It
SOME BIBLICAL ADVICE
Ecc 8:15
So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun. —.
4. Joy is a Witness
Psalm 126:2 We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the LORD has done for them.”
Psa 126:3 Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us! What joy!
Psalm 126:4 Restore our fortunes, LORD, as streams renew the desert.
Psa 126:5 Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy.
Psa 126:6 They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest. —.
As the world gets darker, we need more Light in the Church.
5. Joy is a choice.
We take responsibility for the atmosphere in the room.
Joy co-exists with suffering. It is not an exclusive emotion.
2Co 6:10 Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything. —.
2Co 6:1 As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.
2Co 6:2 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.
2Co 6:3 We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry.
2Co 6:4 In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.
2Co 6:5 We have been beaten, been put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked to exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food.
2Co 6:6 We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.
2Co 6:7 We faithfully preach the truth. God’s power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense.
2Co 6:8 We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us. We are honest, but they call us impostors.
2Co 6:9 We are ignored, even though we are well known. We live close to death, but we are still alive. We have been beaten, but we have not been killed.
2Co 6:10 Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything. —NLT
* Hope enables us to Experience the JOY of Breakthrough before the Breakthrough Comes.
DEEPER DIVE
- Old Testament ASHER = happy
- New Testament MAKARIOS = happy
1Ti 1:3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
1Ti 1:4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.
1Ti 1:5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
1Ti 1:6 from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk,
1Ti 1:7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.
1Ti 1:8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully,
1Ti 1:9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1Ti 1:10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,
1Ti 1:11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust.
