Series: “Romans: The Power of the Gospel” - Part 25
Message: “God and The Government”

Big idea: I must submit to the government because God has ordained government authority for my good.

Text: Romans 13:1-7; John 19:10-11; 1 Corinthians 6:1-8; 1 Timothy 2:1-3

4 truths

  1. I am called to

to the government because it is by God (vs.1-2).

  2. The purpose of the government is to

    law-abiding citizens and law-breakers (vs.3-4).

  3. I should submit to the government not only because it is for my

but also because it is (v.5).

  4. Paying

and giving proper to government officials is part of submission (vs.6-7).

What about civil disobedience?

A biblical boundary: I submit to the government up to the point where

the government means God.

Examples: Exodus 1, Daniel 3, Daniel 6, Matthew 2, Acts 4

A call to action

I am called to

for the authorities instead of them.
