Immanuel: God with Us - A Christmas Eve Devotional

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). —Matthew 1:23


Intro: Imagine a long-awaited reunion after years of separation. The Israelites, living in anticipation of the Messiah, experienced a divine reunion on that first Christmas. God, fulfilling His promise, stepped into human history as a baby named Jesus.


1. The Promise of Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14)

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. —Isaiah 7:14

Christmas is about God

woven into the Old Testament: He will be .

2. The Wonder of Immanuel

The Incarnation is God’s way of saying, ‘

so much that I’ll become one of you.

God is

but in your life.

3. The Comfort of Immanuel

God is

in the messiness of our lives.

Because

we can of being exposed and unforgiven.

Closing Prayer: Lord, as we celebrate Christmas Eve, help us grasp the profound truth of Immanuel – that You are with us. May the reality of Your presence bring joy, peace, and a deep sense of gratitude. In Jesus’ name, amen.
