5-Day devotional on God's Kingdom and the Arts, Media and Technology
June 2, 2025

Here’s a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from Sunday’s Sermon about God’s Kingdom and the Arts, Media and Technology.

Day 1: The Artist’s Creation
Reading: Genesis 1:1-31, Psalm 19:1-6

Devotional: As we read about God’s creation, we’re reminded that our Lord is the ultimate artist. Every detail of our world, from the intricate designs in nature to the unique features of each human being, reflects His creative brilliance. Just as the sermon mentioned the bird’s elaborate dance, consider how God has imbued His creation with beauty and purpose. Today, take time to observe the artistry around you - in nature, in the people you encounter, and even in yourself. How does recognizing God as the master artist change your perspective on the world and your place in it? Reflect on how you can use your own God-given creativity to glorify Him and bring beauty to others.

Day 2: Kingdom Priorities
Reading: Matthew 6:25-34, Colossians 3:1-4

Devotional: Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” This reminds us to align our priorities with God’s kingdom rather than worldly concerns. In Matthew 6, Jesus encourages us not to worry about material needs but to seek first God’s kingdom and righteousness. Consider areas in your life where you may be overly focused on earthly matters. How can you shift your perspective to prioritize God’s kingdom? Reflect on practical ways you can manifest God’s righteousness, peace, and joy in your daily life and interactions with others.

Day 3: Stewardship of Technology
Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:23-33, Philippians 4:8

Devotional: In our digital age, technology and media have become integral parts of our lives. While these tools can be used for great good, they also have the potential to distract us from what truly matters. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians that while many things are permissible, not everything is beneficial. Examine your use of technology and media. Are they drawing you closer to God and others, or creating distance? Consider implementing boundaries, like those mentioned in the sermon, to ensure technology enhances rather than hinders your relationships and spiritual growth. How can you use these tools to glorify God and edify others?

Day 4: Unity in Diversity
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 4:1-6

Devotional: Just as God created a diverse world filled with unique creatures and landscapes, He designed the body of Christ to be diverse yet unified. In a world where social media often amplifies division, we’re called to be agents of unity. Reflect on how you use your voice, especially online. Are you contributing to unity or division within the body of Christ? Consider ways you can celebrate the diversity within the church while maintaining the unity of the Spirit. How can you use your unique gifts and perspective to build up the body of Christ rather than tear it down?

Day 5: Redeeming the Arts and Media
Reading: Exodus 31:1-11, Colossians 3:23-24

Devotional: God not only creates beauty but also empowers His people with creative abilities. In Exodus, we see God filling Bezalel with His Spirit to create beautiful works for the tabernacle. As followers of Christ, we’re called to redeem every area of life for God’s glory, including the arts and media. Reflect on your own creative gifts. How can you use them to reflect God’s beauty and truth in the world? Consider ways you can support and encourage Christian artists, filmmakers, and content creators who are working to bring light to these influential spheres of society. How can you be more intentional about consuming and sharing media that aligns with God’s values?
