Healing
“ 40 Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. 41 Then a man named Jarius, a ruler of the synagogue, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl about twelve, was dying.
As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.
45 ‘Who touched me?’ Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, ‘Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.’ 46 But Jesus said, ‘Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.’
47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.’
49 While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. ‘Your daughter is dead,’ he said. ‘Don’t bother the teacher any more.’ 50 Hearing this, Jesus said, ‘Just believe, and she will be healed.’
51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her, ‘Stop wailing,’ Jesus said. ‘She is not dead but asleep.’
53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand and said, ‘My child, get up!’ 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.” —Luke 8:40-56
(1.) Jesus loves every person in every crowd
“ 41 Then a man named Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house because his only daughter, a girl about twelve, was dying.” —Luke 8:41
“ 45 Peter said, ‘Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” —Luke 8:45
“ 7 Cast all your cares on him because he cares for you.” —1 Peter 5:7
“ 32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. 33 The whole town gathered at the door, 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.” —Mark 1:32-34
Earthly healing is temporal; but spiritual healing is eternal
“ 35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: ‘Everyone is looking for you!’ 38 Jesus replied, ‘Let us go somewhere else—to nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.’ 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.” —Mark 1:35-39
“ 1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ 5 He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” —Revelation 21:1-5
(2.) God connects with people of faith
“ 20 If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing is impossible for God.” —Matthew 17:20
“ 7 Submit yourself, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you.” —James 4:7-8
“ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” —Proverbs 3:5-6
(3.) A healing happens when we receive a touch from Jesus
“ 13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up… 16 The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” —James 5:13-16
