Sermon Title & Text “Walk This Way” Psalms 128 ESV
Sermon Series: One Step Closer: Progressively moving closer and closer to God.
Message in a Sentence: Our “best life” is realized when our life is progressively patterned “in” Christ.
1. Psalms 128 continues the progression toward the Lord as a servant of God through total dependence and alignment of our life with God - totally.
2. Many in church & culture are seeking their “Best Life”. It is a quality statement of desire to live life to the fullest. However, our best life is not our best life, but God’s best life for us! A fulfilling life comes entirely from our connection to God.
3. Wisdom books (Biblical Poetry) often use 2nd stanza to give shape to the 1st. In Ps 128, the 2nd stanza isn’t a new thought but a sharpening of the first stanza.
4. Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways!
a. Blessed: A state of happiness or fortune
b. Fears the Lord: Revere or deep respect
c. Walk in His Ways: Pattern life after the Lord
5. Those that pattern their life after the Lord are blessed with prosperity and provision - from the the Lord.
a. Blessed to work and eat & it shall be well vv2&5
b. Household will be blessed & fruitful vv3&6
6. As a Christ follower what’s the pattern of your life? Does your life look like Christ’s life?
a. Daily Prayer
b. Regular Fasting
c. Loving [supernatural]
d. Humility
e. Teaching
f. Obedient

Everyday Jesus: Psalms 128, Teach us to live in total reverence!
· Monday: Read Ps. 120-128. Each psalm progressively teaches us to depend on the Lord. Today, ask the Lord to deepen your total dependence on Him.
· Tuesday: Read Ps. 128. Begin to memorize v1. Use your sermon notes [SN4] to reflect on what each word means. As you think deeply [meditate] on the meaning of this verse, ask the Lord to apply it to your life.
· Wednesday: {Day of Fasting} Read Ps. 128. Today, meditate on the word and meaning of “fear”. Ask the Lord to show you where your reverence for Him needs to be deepened.
· Thursday: Read Ps. 128. There are 2 primary areas of blessing in this psalm (1) what you do (2) people connected to you. Today, focus on verses 2&5 as you ask the Lord to show you the godly purpose of your “labor”. What needs to change?
· Friday: Read Ps. 128:3&6. The 2nd area of blessing to those that revere the Lord is their family. Pray that your spouse and those in your house (and/or extended family) live fruitful lives in the Lord.
· Saturday: Read Ps. 128-129. As you prepare to come into the house of the Lord, to hear from him through the morning message and receive communion with your church family, ask God to examine your heart through the words of Ps. 128, to live a life of reverence.
