God wants to turn my
to
.
Some Jewish Rabbis have accused Moses of 13 different offenses, such as:
a)
the rock which clearly demonstrated disobedience.
b) Inability to control his temper. One commentator blamed this on Moses’
when he referred to the children of Israel as
, which could have inadvertently conveyed to them that anger was permissible!
c) Failure to give glory to God. A different commentator said that Moses’ actions highlighted
ability above a divine miracle from God!
d) Failing to demonstrate leadership. According to a commentator Moses and Aaron basically “
” by separating themselves to seek God, rather than boldly standing up to the opposition and reminding them that God is faithful to fulfill what He has promised!
e) Not accepting responsibility. Moses
the people for his bad attitude, instead of being honest with himself!
Moses failed to differentiate between the first generation who had been
to the Egyptians, and the new generation born in the wilderness as
children of God.
Slaves understand that a stick is used to
obedience, but free human beings need not be struck, because they more quickly respond to
over power.
There is an immense difference between “striking the rock” and “speaking to the rock” because you
a slave, but you
to a free person.
According to tradition, most would easily assume that Aaron would be chosen to complete the mission first given to Moses, but this was
so.
Along with a
from God, comes a vision and a promise.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon
, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
Just like Gideon was empowered when he heard what his enemies thought of him,
what our enemy thinks of us, we will be empowered as well.
Too often we become like the 10 spies with a grasshopper mentality that brought up a “
report” about God and defamed His character and abilities!
I’ve often said, “The
the vessel, the greater (purer)the flow.”
Some people think that the only
for ministry is to study God’s Word and physically prepare, but it’s only as we
ourselves that we can walk in God’s abilities.
It’s our responsibility not only to find a Godly leader with strength and integrity that we can trust and follow, but to
them as we are commanded, as we all go forward in unity to possess the promises of God!
