Title: Spiritual Warfare: The Enemy We Must Fight (Part 2)
Text: Ephesians 6:10-12; 4:25-32

Introduction: There is a great war taking place on a spiritual level. The battle is between believers and Satan. We became part of the spiritual warfare the day we trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Since the Garden of Eden, and until Christ comes again, our enemy, the devil, seeks to use every means available to him to hinder God’s plan for our lives. He appears in Scripture as the adversary opposing God’s people from Genesis to Revelation.
By Nature:
— The devil is cunning—In Ephesians 6:11, we are commanded to “stand against the devil’s schemes” because he uses many forms and tactics to accomplish his goal.
— The devil is powerful—In Ephesians 6:12, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
— The devil is evil—In Ephesians 6:12, he rules “The powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” and is called “the evil one” in verse 16.
Due to this fact, we must never, as Christians, cultivate in our lives any known sin that our enemy can use against us. If we do, we are giving the devil a “foothold” (Ephesians 4:27). In the language of warfare, we would say, “Don’t give the devil a beachhead.”
Now, let’s consider some of the sins that give Satan a beachhead, and let’s try to understand why.
