  1. Share with the group what makes for the best sunrises.

  2. In Zechariah’s prophecy, what stands out to you about God’s character as described in these verses? How does the imagery of a “rising sun” differ from other ways we might think about God’s intervention? What does it mean that God’s intervention comes through “tender mercy”?

  3. Read John 3:19-21. Where are you currently experiencing “darkness” in your life? (This could be spiritual, emotional, relational, or professional)

  4. Read Malachi 4:2 and Psalm 43:3. Discuss the three points of the sermon. In what ways is Christ’s coming like a rising sun? In what areas do you most need God’s illuminating, warming, or guiding presence right now?

  5. What specific spiritual disciplines could help you position yourself to receive God’s “sunrise”? Where do you struggle to believe that God’s mercy can break through your current challenges? How can our group support you in embracing hope during this season?

  6. Zechariah speaks of a sunrise “from heaven” – a reminder that transformation is ultimately a gift, not a self-generated effort. How does this perspective change your approach to personal growth and spiritual development?

  7. How can you be a “sunrise person” in your immediate context (workplace, family, community)?
