Ezekiel 9:1-11

9:1-7 | Those who have charge over the city appear to be angelic beings commissioned to canvass the area and strike down its sinful people. The mark placed on the foreheads of the righteous, apparently visible only to the angels who would carry out the judgment, was the final letter of the Hebrew alphabet, tahv, which in Ezekiel’s day was shaped like an X.

9:8-10 | Ezekiel’s lament was met with a reminder that, from the Lord’s perspective, it was a matter of justice. These sinners had murdered others; now they would experience the same kind of violence they had delivered.
