Who Am I?
“And the world is passing away along with its desires”
-1 John 2:17A
I AM
This scripture is a pretty sad way to start looking at who we are, where our identity is found, or what defines us.
When we are defined by ANYTHING of this world, there are a lot of downsides…
- Our identity can be taken.
- Our happiness is rooted in what we find our identity in.
- We are left never being enough.
“but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
-1 John 2:17B
I AM HIS!
When we become a child of God, we SHOULD let ourselves be defined by HIM, because…
- He’s placed eternity on our hearts. (Proverbs)
- My identity can never be taken.
- My happiness is no longer circumstantial.
- I’m always enough.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
-2 Corinthians 5:17
I AM NEW
- The things that use to identify no longer define me.
- I now have the ability to become everything I was trying to be.
- A good husband.
- A good father.
- A good employee.
- A good friend.
