Finishing What He Started

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23–24

The Person (v. 23)

The Peace (v. 23)

The Purpose (v. 23)

“There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you.” 1 Samuel 2:2

“Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” Exodus 15:11

“Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.” Revelation 15:4

“As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless…” Psalm 18:30

The Process (v. 23)

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. John 17:17–19

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6

 We are all works in progress.

 God will complete his work.

 God’s not done yet.

The Promise (v. 24)

The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

What does it mean for me?

 You can have enormous confidence in God.
