-What are your favorite shoes and why?
-What other shoes do you have for specific purposes?
-Why are some shoes better than others?
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace. —Ephesians 6:13-15
-Roman soldiers wore shoes called Caliga. Made from hard leather and the soles were studded with metal in patterns like cleats to give them firm grip. To fall in battle would be fatal, so a firm holding shoe was absolutely necessary.
-The hard leather would protect the soldiers feet from briars, thorns and thistles they may encounter during any mission. We all know, when your feet hurt, your mind can be distracted from the mission.
-Why do you think the Apostle Paul likened this type of firm protective footwear to Peace?
-How does the enemy work to destroy our Peace?
-What is the Gospel of peace which is supposed to provide us a firm footing?
Gospel = Good news : Peace = Wholeness / Salvation
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. —Romans 5:1
-How would knowing you have peace with God be like a good pair of shoes?
-In what ways should that give you confidence in your daily life?
-Have you asked someone about their shoes, if so why?
-How could our lives, prepared with the shoes of the good news of peace, cause others to ask about it?
-Are you prepared to give an answer about the good news?
