Love is … Love is the greatest - Week 4

1 Corinthians 13…
Week 1. Love is greater than giftedness
Week 2. Love is not multiple choice
Week 3. Love is maturing and developing
Week 4. Love is the greatest

The Way of Love

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Jesus did not invent love, He practiced it!

The more complicated you make something the harder it is to repeat.

Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
You can have anything you want; you just can’t have everything you want.

John 3:16 says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
God has not asked us to steward something that He has not already put in our hands.

John 15:13 tells us, “No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.”
Our job if to be faithful in a few things, God’s job is to be faithful over all things.

Lessons Learned

1. How He loved us is how we should love Him. “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8

2. How he loved us is how we should love each other: “Love each other as I (Jesus) have loved you. John 15:12

3. God’s love is demonstrated: “We love God because he first loved us” 1 John 4:19

4. God’s love is sacrificial: “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins” 1 John 4:10

The call of the disciple is to extravagant love for Christ. By definition, the word “extravagant” means to exceed boundaries or proceed further than necessary.

The passage holds no hint of immorality—only buckets of humility, sacrifice, and devotion.

“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us” —CS Lewis
