Fear — spirit that affects the mind and the emotion causing anxiety, dread over a perceived awareness of danger or a since of being overwhelmed.
Fear NOT!
I must realize and accept two truths about fear
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. —2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
“Do not let your heart be troubled. You have put your trust in God, put your trust in Me also. —John 14:1 (NLT)
If I am in fear how do I get free from it?
When I am afraid, I will put my trust and faith in You. In God, whose word I praise; In God I have put my trust; I shall not fear… —Psalms 56:3-4 (AMP)
Then Jesus turned to the Jews who had claimed to believe in him. “If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.” —John 8:31-32 (MSG)
The Problem with Fear
When fear outweighs my revelation on God’s
Do not yield to fear, for I am always near. Never turn your gaze from me, for I am our faithful God. I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation. I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand. —Isaiah 41:10 (TPT)
…Unless it is the Lord who protects the city, the guard on duty is pointless. —Psalm 127:1 (CEB)
Go in confidence and grace—no rushing, no frantic escape. There’s no need to be anxious—the Eternal One goes before and behind you. The God of Israel paves the way with assurance and strength. He watches your back. —Isaiah 52:12 (VOICE)
But the Lord is faithful; he will make you strong and guard you from satanic attacks of every kind. —2 Thessalonian 3:3 (TLB)
God’s response plan for victory in crisis
3Frightened, Jehoshaphat decided to ask for the Lord’s help. He announced a fast throughout Judah. 4The people of Judah gathered to seek the Lord’s help. They came from every city in Judah.
9‘If evil comes in the form of war, flood, plague, or famine, we will stand in front of this temple and in front of you because your name is in this temple. We will cry out to you in our troubles, and you will hear us and save us.’
13All the people from Judah, their infants, wives, and children were standing in front of the Lord. 14 Then the Lord’s Spirit came to Jahaziel…
15Jahaziel said, “Pay attention to me, everyone from Judah, everyone living in Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat. This is what the Lord says to you: Don’t be frightened or terrified by this large crowd. The battle isn’t yours. It’s God’s.
17You won’t fight this battle. Instead, take your position, stand still, and see the victory of the Lord for you, Judah and Jerusalem. Don’t be frightened or terrified. Tomorrow go out to face them. The Lord is with you.” —2 Chronicles 20:3-4, 9, 13-15, 17 (GW)
1. “Take your position”
2. “Stand in Faith”
11Put on all the armor that God supplies. In this way you can take a stand against the devil’s strategies.12This is not a wrestling match against a human opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world. 13For this reason, take up all the armor that God supplies. Then you will be able to take a stand during these evil days. Once you have overcome all obstacles, you will be able to stand your ground.
14So then, take your stand! Fasten truth around your waist like a belt. Put on God’s approval as your breastplate.15Put on your shoes so that you are ready to spread the Good News that gives peace. 16In addition to all these, take the Christian faith as your shield. With it you can put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Also take salvation as your helmet and God’s word as the sword that the Spirit supplies.
18Pray in the Spirit in every situation. Use every kind of prayer and request there is. For the same reason be alert. Use every kind of effort and make every kind of request for all of God’s people. —Ephesian 6:11-18 (GW)
3. “Testify”
20They got up early in the morning and went to the desert of Tekoa. As they were leaving, Jehoshaphat stopped and said, “Listen to me, people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem. Trust the Lord your God, and believe. Believe his prophets, and you will succeed.”
22As they started to sing praises, the Lord set ambushes against the Ammonites, Moabites, and the people of Mount Seir who had come into Judah. They were defeated.
27All the men of Judah and Jerusalem returned to Jerusalem. They rejoiced while Jehoshaphat led them. The Lord gave them a reason to rejoice about what had happened to their enemies. —2 Chronicles 20:20, 22, 27 (GW)
