Become Like Jesus

Then they arrived at the region of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. As he stepped out on shore, a man from the city who had demons met him. For a long time he had not worn any clothes, and he did not live in a house but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, shouting, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me,” for Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilds.) Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered him. —Luke 8:26-30

Ministry requires an apprenticeship

.

First: As Christians we want to become like

.

Second: Becoming like Jesus is a process that forms us

not all at once.

Third: To be successful we must follow “a

path to transformation.”

The apprenticeship pattern found in the Gospels:

  1. other people become apprentices

Three Losing Strategies (Comer)

  1. Bible Study
  2. The “ from Heaven”

An apprenticeship process

us to join in ministry with Jesus!

Jesus’ ministry happens in

places. (Luke 8:27)

Jesus’ ministry is done in

. (Luke 8:28)

Jesus’ ministry is

. (Luke 8:30)

Jesus’ ministry is always met with

. (Luke 8:36-37)

Jesus’ ministry is

! (Luke 8:38-39)

Even the disciples didn’t get it right

.

How do you start?

Start with

!

Take the blessing you have received and

it.

Gratitude + Apprenticeship =

Action Steps

Spend time every day

for Jesus.

Find one opportunity every day to be

Jesus.
