“When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom…And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.” —2 Sam. 7:12, 16

“for none of [Jeconiah’s] offspring shall succeed in sitting on the throne of David and ruling again in Judah…” —Jer. 22:30

II. An Impossible

(Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:6, 12; Luke 3)

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” —Isa. 7:14

III. An Impossible

(Isa. 9:6-7)

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.” —Isa. 9:6-7
