“Lies Destroy Marriages” - Love Stories: 3

*Ephesians 5:22-28

“ 22  For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord.  23  For a husband is the head of
his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.  24  As the
church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. 25  For
husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for
her  26  to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27  He did this to
present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish.
Instead, she will be holy and without fault.  28  In the same way, husbands ought to love their
wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for
himself.”

John 8:44

The only person you can change in the marriage is you.

Lie #2: “Marriage is always 50/50.”

Ephesians 5:25
“ 25  For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church…”

Truth: “Marriage is always 100/100.”

Lie #3: “This one little thing isn’t a big deal.”

“ 15  Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in
bloom.”

Truth: “I can’t manage my sin; I need to confess it.”

James 5:16
“ 16  Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The
earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

Genesis 2:24-25
“ 24  This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two
are united into one. 25  Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.”

Lie #4: “There is no hope for my marriage.”

Truth: “God can restore all things, including my marriage.”
