WARM UP QUESTION: They say you should never meet your heroes because you will be disappointed. Have you ever met one of your heroes?
HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Read 1 Kings 12-13. Where do you see the theme of listening in these chapters?
2. Why do you think Rehoboam rejected the advice of his older counselors? 
3. What parallels can be drawn between Rehoboam and Jeroboam’s actions and the biblical story of the Exodus?
4. Why did Jeroboam decide to set up golden calves for the people to worship? How did this decision ultimately lead to disaster?
5. Compare and contrast Jesus with Jeroboam and Rehoboam. Where do you see similarities or differences?

6. In what areas of your life do you struggle to listen to God over the opinions of others or your own ego?
