We need this voice in the room.

Turning in vs. 24-25

24 There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God, 25 for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment? —Eccl. 2:24-25

Small and Big

All appointed by God

Wise Humiliy

is good
But, having our desires in the driver’s seat is not good

Sovereign…but to what end
Qohelet doesn’t have the whole picture
Worker ant - toiling away just to live another day?

Jesus

Sacrificial love for us first

Take up our cross
Find new life and joy

Paul, later finds

:

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness[d] be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me. —Phil. 3:4-7, 10-13

We still strive, wrestle, and work
Until that great day, it will include toil

Come to the table
Peace and Contentment is found in Christ
