Day 3: His Extra on Our Ordinary
Scripture Reading: Luke 2:1-7 (NLT)
Picture it: Bethlehem, a seemingly insignificant town in the grand tapestry of human history. Yet, in this humble setting, the promise of the ages was fulfilled. The Son of God, wrapped in swaddling clothes, made His entrance into our world.
Devotional:
The tiny town of Bethlehem doesn’t typically make headlines. It’s an ordinary place with ordinary people. Yet, God chose this very town, and a seemingly ordinary stable, for the most extraordinary event in human history.
Imagine the night sky over Bethlehem, as God’s plan unfolded. The stars bore witness to something far more brilliant—the birth of Jesus, the Savior of the world. He came not in a palace or amidst royalty but in a humble stable, wrapped in strips of cloth and laid in a manger.
God has a way of taking our ordinary circumstances and adding His extra. He doesn’t require grandeur or extravagance. Instead, He seeks willing hearts and humble places to manifest His extraordinary plans.
As we journey through this season, let’s remember that God specializes in turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. The same God who chose a stable in Bethlehem can transform our everyday lives into something beautiful and profound when we yield to His plan.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Help me trust Your plans and embrace the moments when, by Your Holy Spirit, You add Your extra to my life. God, I give you my ordinary, all of it. Have your way in and through me, today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
