Messy Growth
Part of The Resurrected Life
May 1, 2025

Real faith grows deepest not when life is perfect, but when life is messy.

1. Roots Matter More Than

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. —Colossians 2:6–7

Real growth is about being rooted in Christ—not surface perfection

2. Growth Happens Best in

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. ‘And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. —Acts 2:42-47

Growth flourishes where authenticity thrives

“You can’t grow spiritually unless you’re connected relationally.” —Andy Stanley

3. The Resurrected Life Grows Even in

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord , and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. —Psalm 1:1-3

The Hebrew word used here for “meditate” is hagah — and it’s not just quiet reflection. It literally means:
• To murmur, mutter, or rehearse something under your breath.
• It paints the image of someone chewing on truth repeatedly, letting it sink in and shape their heart.

Fruitfulness isn’t about avoiding problems—it’s about staying connected to the source of life.
