Guilt Trip - Main Slide.jpg

Zech. 3:1-7 ESV

v1- Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.
v2- And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?”
v3- Now Joshua was standing before the angel, clothed with filthy garments.
v4- And the angel said to those who were standing before him, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments.”
v5- And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord was standing by.
v6- And the angel of the Lord solemnly assured Joshua,
v7- “Thus says the Lord of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and keep my charge, then you shall rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among those who are standing here.

3 Getting over Guilt for Good Guarantees:

  1. We must all admit our guilt before God (Zech. 3:1-3, Rev 12:10)

9 Conviction Vs. Condemnation Concepts:

  1. There is a difference between satanic accusation and spirit conviction.
  2. Condemnation comes from Satan. Conviction comes from the Spirit.
  3. Condemnation focuses on who you are. Conviction focuses on what you did.
  4. Conviction gives you a light at the end of the tunnel. In condemnation the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train!
  5. Satan uses condemnation to paralyze you. Spirit uses conviction to purify you.
  6. There is a difference between guilt and guilty feelings. You can be guilty but not feel guilty. You can feel guilty but not be guilty.
  7. Satan will condemn you of sin you have not committed or that you have already been forgiven of. The Spirit will only convict you of unconfessed sin.
  8. Satan will use condemnation to accuse you and confuse you. Spirit will use conviction to correct and cleanse you.
  9. Satan will use condemnation to rebuke you. Spirit will use conviction to restore you.

8 Accusation Aspects:

  1. Satan will always be your accuser
  2. The only time the devil will be on your side is when you stand against God
  3. If you’ve never had a head on collision with the devil, chances are you are walking with him!
  4. Satan will tempt you then trap you
  5. Satan will whisper in your right ear … “you can get away with this.” Then when you do it, “you can’t get away with that.”
  6. He’ll tempt you to jump in the mud and then blame you for getting dirty!
  7. When the devil talks to you about God he will always lie to you (Gen. 3:2)
  8. Satan is the master of the guilt trip. Jesus is the master of the grace trip.
