Becoming a Spiritual Grandparent

John 1:35-42
I. Step 1: Emphasize Jesus (vv. 35-36)
A. The Baptist’s purpose is to

that Jesus is the One to whom they should pledge their lives.
B. To help bring others to Jesus, we must make Jesus more

than ourselves.
II. Step 2: Release Followers to Jesus (vv. 37-39)
A. The Baptist knows his job:

the way for Jesus then get out of the way.
B. These two followers leave the Baptist and begin

Jesus.
C. We must always point those who become followers of us to Jesus as the more important

to follow.
III. Sept 3: Become a Grandparent (vv. 40-42)
A. One of those followers, Andrew, found his brother and

him to Jesus.
B. Seeing these 2nd generation followers of Christ develop in their

while knowing I had a small part is just as rewarding as being a biological grandfather.
