A Seat at His Table
November 19, 2023

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm 23:1-6

“As one meditates on this magnificent poem it is helpful to keep in mind that the poet is recounting the prominent events of the full year in a sheep’s life. He takes us with him from the home ranch where every need is so carefully supplied by the owner, out into the green pastures, along the still waters, up through the mountain valleys to the high tablelands of summer.” —Phillip Keller, A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Psalm 23:5

What is the table Jesus has prepared for His sheep?

“You are a son or daughter of God. You are a child of the King. You are written into God’s will, and you are an heir of everything God has. You are a beneficiary of the lavish love of God, which has changed you from failure to family. Grace not only cancels guilt and shame; grace redefines you. You are a beloved family member of God, and because of that you are given a seat at the table with Almighty God.” —Louie Giglio, Don’t Give The Enemy A Seat at Your Table

You are made

with God.

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

God.

But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

from the power of evil.

.

For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
Ephesians 2:18

You

every spiritual blessing possible.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
Ephesians 1:3

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you… 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 14:16,17,26

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8

Identify Lies from the Enemy

• You are not going to

it.

• You are not

enough.

• It’s

at another table.

Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.
Hebrews 12:2a

“…we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5b
