Spritiual Gifts Test?

5 Day Devotional

Day 1: Embracing Your Spiritual Gifts
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

Devotional: God’s Spirit is not stingy, but abundantly generous. Today’s passage reminds us that there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit empowers them all. Reflect on the gifts you’ve recognized in your life. Have you limited yourself to just one or two? Remember, the Holy Spirit didn’t come to put us in a box, but to set us on fire. Today, ask God to expand your understanding of spiritual gifts. Are there areas where you’ve hesitated to serve because you didn’t feel “gifted” enough? Challenge yourself to step out in faith, trusting that the Spirit equips us for every good work. How might embracing a wider range of spiritual gifts allow you to serve God and others more fully?

Day 2: The Call to Witness
Reading: Acts 1:8

Devotional: Jesus’ final words to His disciples were a commission and a promise: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses.” The Greek word for “witnesses” here is “martyrs.” This reminds us that being a witness for Christ isn’t always comfortable or safe. It’s a call to sacrificial living. Today, consider how you’re witnessing for Christ. Is your faith visible to others? Are you willing to face discomfort or even suffering for the sake of the gospel? Pray for the courage to be a bold witness in your daily life, remembering that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you.

Day 3: The Cost of Discipleship
Reading: Luke 9:57-62

Devotional: Jesus never sugar-coated the cost of following Him. In today’s passage, we see Him challenging would-be disciples to count the cost. Following Jesus means putting Him above all else - even family, comfort, and security. Reflect on areas of your life where you might be holding back from full commitment to Christ. Are there “foxholes” of comfort you’re reluctant to leave? Remember, Jesus promises that those who lose their life for His sake will find it. Today, ask God to show you one area where you can more fully surrender to His lordship. What might it look like to take up your cross in that area?

Day 4: Love in Action
Reading: Matthew 5:43-48

Devotional: Loving our enemies is perhaps the most challenging command Jesus gave us. It’s also one of the most powerful witnesses to the transforming power of the gospel. When we love those who hurt us, we reflect the heart of God who loved us while we were still sinners. Today, think of someone who has wronged you or someone you find difficult to love. How can you actively show love to that person? It might be through prayer, a kind action, or simply choosing to forgive. Remember, this kind of love isn’t about feelings, but about choices and actions. Ask God for the strength to love as He loves.

Day 5: Power in Weakness
Reading: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Devotional: Our world values strength and self-sufficiency, but God’s kingdom operates differently. Paul learned that God’s power is made perfect in our weakness. When we’re at the end of our rope, that’s when God’s strength can truly shine through us. Reflect on a time when you felt weak or inadequate, but experienced God’s strength. Are you facing any challenges now where you feel insufficient? Instead of trying harder in your own strength, practice surrendering those areas to God. Thank Him that His grace is sufficient for you. How might embracing your weaknesses actually open the door for God’s power to be more fully displayed in your life?
