“Every SCAR tells a STORY.”
I. OUR SCARS
- Physical Scars
- Emotional Scars
- Mental Scars
- Spiritual Scars
II. JESUS’ SCARS
• Physical Scars
Isaiah 53:5, NKJV
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the
chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
• Emotional Scars
Psalm 41:9, NIV
Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against
me.
Isaiah 53:3, NKJV
He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
• Mental Scars
Luke 22:44, NKJV
And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops
of blood falling down to the ground.
• Sin Scars
1 Peter 2:24, NLT
He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and
live for what is right.
“Every WOUND Leaves A SCAR.”
“Every SCAR tells a STORY.”
“His SCARS tell THE STORY.”
1. His Scars Are REMINDERS.
Hebrews 4:15-16, NLT
This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do,
yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive
his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
2. His Scars Are PROOF
1 Peter 1:18-19, NLT
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your
ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the
precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
3. His Scars Give HOPE.
Mark 10:33-34, NLT
“Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the
leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die and hand him
over to the Romans. They will mock him, spit on him, flog him with a whip, and kill him, BUT
after three days he will rise again.”
The Scars In His Hands Give Me Hope That My Sins Can Be Forgiven.
The Scars On His Back Gives Me Hope That My Hurts Can Be Healed.
The Scars On His Feet Gives Me Hope That My Addictions Can Be Overcome.
The Scars In His Side Gives Me Hope That My Relationships Can Be Restored.
The Scars On His Head Gives Me Hope That My Mind Can Be Renewed.
“Every SCAR tells a STORY.”
