INTRODUCTION

Meltdowns are part of life. A meltdown is a momentary loss of control when a situation feels like it’s too much to handle. Many people in the Bible faced meltdowns only to find a breakthrough on the other side. These stories show us that there is hope for us as we manage our emotions.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. 4He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” —2 Corinthians 1:3-4

God can transform our meltdowns. When life throws us its toughest situations, we can rest knowing hope is approaching. Embrace the journey, and trust that our story, like those in the Bible, can be a powerful testimony of resilience and renewal.

Week 2 - “Moses’ Meltdown Through Doubt”

I. DOUBT SURFACES WHEN WE PERSPECTIVE

“He answered, “I will certainly be with you, and this will be the sign to you that I am the one who sent you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will all worship God at this mountain.” —Exodus 3:12

Meltdown Fact: Our perspectives are not God’s perspectives.

II. DOUBT GROWS WHEN WE TO OURSELVES

Moses Gave God Many Excuses

● Who am I?

“But Moses asked God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” —Exodus 3:11

● What is the God of our ancestors’ name?

“Then Moses asked God, “If I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what should I tell them?” —Exodus 3:13

● What if they don’t believe me?

“Moses answered, “What if they won’t believe me and will not obey me but say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” —Exodus 4:1

● I have trouble speaking.

“But Moses replied to the Lord, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent—either in the past or recently or since you have been speaking to your servant—because my mouth and my tongue are sluggish.” —Exodus 4:10

Meltdown Fact: God’s voice is reassuring.

III. UNCHECKED DOUBT TO DISOBEDIENCE (NUMBERS 20:6-12)

Meltdown Fact: We must obey God.

“But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.” —Numbers 20:12 (NIV)

IV. WALKING BY FAITH DOUBT

“No prophet has arisen again in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face. 11He was unparalleled for all the signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do against the land of Egypt—to Pharaoh, to all his officials, and to all his land— 12and for all the mighty acts of power and terrifying deeds that Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.” —Deuteronomy 34:10-12

Meltdown Fact: We trust God over our doubts.

“By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter 25 and chose to suffer with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasure of sin. 26 For he considered reproach for the sake of Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since he was looking ahead to the reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt behind, not being afraid of the king’s anger, for Moses persevered as one who sees him who is invisible. 28 By faith he instituted the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn might not touch the Israelites. 29 By faith they crossed the Red Sea as though they were on dry land. When the Egyptians attempted to do this, they were drowned.” —Hebrews 11:24-29

Life Application:

● We all

with doubt at times.

● We must

letting doubt take root.

● We must stay

on God’s promises.

● We must

situations through God’s perspective.

● We must

to obey, even when doubt whispers excuses.

● We must

by faith in God’s power to overcome doubt.

CONCLUSION: What steps do you need to take to show doubt the door?
