trust in Hebrew is chacah… same word is used for refuge in Psa 91:4… six cities of refuge in OT… if you unintentionally killed someone… go there and be kept safe…
Deut 19:4-6… “having killed accidentally… flee to one of these cities for refuge…”
Josh 20:3… “if person kills unintentionally… flee there… places of refuge from avenger…”
Psa 91:4… “will cover you with feathers… under His wings you will find refuge…”
these cities of refuge are shadows… revealed in the reality of Jesus…

before the cross… devil had legal right to sentence us to death for our sins… at the cross… Jesus paid to set us free… put sins under category of unintentional… today, we can run to Him as our city of refuge… be kept safe from one seeking revenge…

Josh 20:7-9… “designated Kedesh… Shechem… Hebron… Bezer… Ramoth… and Golan… these are cities appointed for all Israelites and aliens among them…”
You can find sanctuary (Kedesh) on the Lord’s shoulders (Shechem) which He offers in friendship (Hebron). He is our fortress (Bezer) and He highly exalts us (Ramoth) above all our troubles with great rejoicing (Golan). —Pastor Joseph Prince
do you remember what Jesus did with the lost sheep… what did the sheep do… nothing… it just chose to be protected… didn’t fight or argue… sheep repented… changed its mind for the better… agreed and gave permission to be kept safe…
Luke 15:1-7… “loses one sheep… when he found it… joyfully put on his shoulders… rejoice with me, I have found my lost sheep… more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents…”
on the Lord’s shoulders is the best place to be… far above your enemies… far above sickness, disease, and death… His shoulders are your city of refuge…
Deut 28:1-14… “you will be head, not tail… above only, and not beneath…”
Deut 33:12… “the beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by Him… who shelters him all day long… the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders…”
Psa 110:1 (Acts 2; Heb 1)… “sit at my right hand… make enemies your footstool…”
Eph 1:6… “to the praise of His grace… He made us accepted in the Beloved…”
cities of refuge were scattered across Israel… so people could easily and quickly be safe there… picture of the local church… God’s church is a place of refuge…
Psa 36:8… “they are filled with the abundance of Your house…”
Psa 68:6… “God places lonely in families… sets prisoners free… gives them joy…”
Psa 92:12-15… “planted in house of the Lord… righteous thrive… bear fruit in old age…”
Rom 10:14-17… “how can they hear without preacher… faith comes by hearing…”
1Cor 5:4… “when you are assembled in the name of Jesus… there is power…”
Eph 1:21-23… “He is far above any ruler or authority or power… not only in this world, but in world to come… God put all things under authority of Christ… for benefit of the church…”

promise of protection is a choice… protection is blessing… blessings are a choice… must choose to dwell in the house of the Lord… choose to let Him help in times of trouble… choose to build an ark… choose to put your trust in His love… pray…
Deut 11:26… “today, I’m giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse…”
Psa 27… “I most desire to dwell in house of the Lord… He will conceal me from enemies…”
Psa 46:1… “God is our refuge and strength… a very present help in trouble…”
Psa 91:9-10… “because you have made the Lord your refuge… no harm or plague near…”
