Getting to Know Me Questions:

* What’s something from this week’s teaching that you learned, that stood out, interesting
etc?

* Pastor Kirby said “Love is not what God does. Love is who God is.” How do you respond
to this?

READ: 1 John 4:8
* The question for us was posed: If God is love, why don’t I always feel God’s love?

* What is your response to this question? Have you asked yourself this?

* What are some ways you have personally experienced God’s love?

* We were given 3 possible reasons for why we may not feel God’s love:
1. Maybe we’re not really seeking God’s love.
READ: Matthew 6:33
* What makes it difficult for you to seek God and God’s Kingdom first?

2. Maybe we aren’t loving others the way God loves.
READ: 1 John 4:8-11
* This seems almost like an impossible task. How is God calling you to love someone else?
What’s your next step in showing love to that person?

3. Maybe we don’t feel worthy of God’s love.
READ: Genesis 3:7-13
* In what situations do you feel unworthy? What steps do you need to take to stop feeling
unworthy?

* Pastor Kirby said ‘Jesus loves to make beautiful things.’ What beautiful things has God
made in your life?

READ: Ephesians 2:10 and 2 Corinthians 5:17
* Jesus wants us to see ourselves the way God does. Something was broken (Adam and
Eve) but He makes us new.
* Question to consider or respond to: What is holding us back from accepting God’s love?
What is something that we continue to hold onto which has a tight grip of shame in your
life?
