Good Deal
Pastor Steve Burford
Philippians 3:7-11
7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
Bottom Line: Realizing that your righteousness is in Christ alone, not your accomplishments, is the source of enduring joy.

REFLECT. DISCUSS. ENGAGE.
- Other than Christ, what would you be most likely to trust in for acceptance before God? Why?
- What is one thing you need to consider as “dung” today in comparison to knowing Christ more?
- In what areas do you need to realize Christ’s resurrection power?
- How has suffering enabled you to know Christ more?
- How does the hope of your resurrection encourage you in the Christian life? Are you living life now in the reality of the resurrection?
- How could you use Phil 3:1-11 to help people understand the good news of the gospel against the backdrop of human effort and accomplishments? What does Eph 2 say about this?
