DQ: The Poet's Journal - Pt. 10
October 13, 2024
Part of Sermon Discussion

INTRODUCTION: Today we celebrated child dedication. Were you dedicated as a child? If you are a parent, did you dedicate your children? Describe the event.

READ: Psalm 119:137-144 (New International Version)

Begin the time by praying together.

DISCUSS:
1. How would you define “righteousness”? ( How is that term related to keeping the law?)
2. Search the above passage and share adjectives the poet uses for the laws/statutes of God.
3. Do you even know all of God’s laws? How do you acquaint yourself with God’s laws?
4. Do God’s laws help you when trouble and distress come upon you? How?
5. Read 2 Timothy 4:16-17. How do you feel about God being your defender and deliverer when you are wrongly accused?
6. Read I John 2:1. How do you feel about God being equally your defender and deliverer when you are in the wrong?
7. Romans 3 -23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and 24 all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
8. If we are justified by grace, why would you uphold and love the law?

PRAY: Indeed God, your love is reckless. We cannot earn and do not deserve it. We give you our lives and obey You as a response to your love.

IN SMALLER GROUPS, SHARE AND PRAY:
- Invite the Holy Spirit to guide your time
- Listen to the Lord for guidance in how to pray for one another and then pray
- Take time to pray for one person at a time.
