Psalm 111:1-10 (HCSB)
Hallelujah!
I will praise the Lord with all my heart
in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.
The Lord’s works are great,
studied by all who delight in them.
All that He does is splendid and majestic;
His righteousness endures forever.
He has caused His wonderful works to be remembered.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He has provided food for those who fear Him;
He remembers His covenant forever.
He has shown His people the power of His works
by giving them the inheritance of the nations.
The works of His hands are truth and justice;
all His instructions are trustworthy.
They are established forever and ever,
enacted in truth and in what is right.
He has sent redemption to His people.
He has ordained His covenant forever.
His name is holy and awe-inspiring.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow His instructions have good insight.

Selah - Pausing to Praise: The Wonder of God’s Works
Great and Memorable (1-4)
• Hallelujah is a resolution that we are going to praise God regardless.
• The “assembly of the upright” is a small group of people who help you live in an “upright way.” Who is on your team?
• Meditating on God’s wondrous works leads us to conclude that He is a great God.
• We don’t live in the past, but we use it to provide encouragement in the present and hope for the future.
Gracious and Compassionate (4-6)
• That God is gracious expresses that He has bent down to pour grace upon us. We receive it from Him as we are in a lowly position.
• People’s greatest needs are met through the pathway of care.
• The conclusion of God’s redemption for Israel was the promised land. The conclusion of Christ’s redemption is a promised restoration to our heavenly Father in the fullness of the Kingdom of God.
Truthful and Just (7-9)
• Our God is faithful, not fickle!
• God’s precepts are unaffected and unbroken by the passing of time.
• We can’t begin a journey towards wisdom without being in respectful awe of God.
