Prayer for Our Community Groups and Their Leaders

Day Five

For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
—Philippians 1:8-11

Every month at Providence Church we have over 50 community groups that meet multiple times throughout the month in Collin and Denton counties. The coaches and leaders of these groups are tasked with the very important job of loving and caring for these multi-generational groups that consist of over 700 men and women from Providence. Our mission in these groups is to help/encourage group members to grow through the gospel, grow in community, and grow on mission. This is no small task. And it requires much prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit. Community groups are the main stream where discipleship takes place at Providence every week, by living out the “one another’s” of Scripture.

Lord, we thank you for the great privilege of being part of a church, a family that values living in community. Today we pray specifically for our community groups, that they will have affection for one another. We pray for the coaches, the leaders, and each individual member—that their love for you would abound with knowledge, their love of the gospel would increase, and that they would grow in their beliefs of the person of Christ, biblical doctrine, and all truth. We also pray that this knowledge would not end in our minds, but that it would move to our hearts. That we would approve what is excellent, pure, and blameless with our mouths and actions. Lord, we pray that we would be filled with the fruit of righteousness that only comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Lord, we pray that we would live out the “one another’s” in love as you have called us to in your Word. Amen.

As you go through your day:
1. That God would work in the lives of our CG Coaches, Leaders and members to apply the Word of God to daily living.
2. That the love of Christ would abound more and more in the lives of our members because of the Truth of the Gospel and sound doctrine.
3. Pray for the people of Providence to be marked by living out the one anothers of scripture.
4. Pray for spiritual growth in our groups in the areas of gospel, community and mission.
