9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” 10 Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. —1 Chronicles 4:9-10

A little difference can make a big difference.

- One degree is the difference between hot water and steam…and steam will power a locomotive.

9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” — 1 Chronicles 4:9 (ESV)

- Jabez didn’t let the circumstances of his birth define his future.

10 Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. —1 Chronicles 4:10 (ESV)

Four parts to the Jabez prayer.

1. Bless me when, where and however you choose.

2. Enlarge my territory so I may bless others.

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 3:14 (ESV)

3. Your hand to guide me always.

4. Keep me from evil; sustaining the blessing.

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” — Matthew 6:13 (ESV)

Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. Just a man who ask God for help. Hebrews 11

“…And God granted what he asked.” —1 Chronicles 4:10
