Romans 12:1

This morning, we are going to answer two questions about why we offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. In essence, we are going to answer the how and why of our worship.

• How do we worship? We offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, surrendered to God because God has made us holy and acceptable.
• Why do we worship? God gave His Son for us. How can we not give our all for Him.

do we worship?

• We offer our

as the instruments of worship – mind, heart, hands, feet, moments, seasons, entire course of my life.
• 1 Peter 2:9 | But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
• Through Jesus and the work of His Spirit, has done a work in us to make us holy and acceptable to Him. This is the difference between the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and the false gospels of this world.

// In the biblical Gospel, humans sins, God initiates the rescue, Jesus accomplishes it, we put our faith in Him, He makes us holy, and then we live in

of what He has done.
// In all other religions and false gospels, humans sin, getting back to God is the goal, we work and try to be holy to salvation – but never do because that’s impossible.
// All other human philosophies and idolatries on this earth call us to worship in the same way – offer your bodies and maybe you’ll find some kind of pleasure, some experience, or some cause that will give you fulfillment – but it never does.

• Beware of the temptation to

our lives.
• God has done the work to make us holy and acceptable to Him, so we offer our bodies to Him. But this also becomes the standard for our lifestyle. If we are to live as worshippers, we must ask of our behavior, “Does this God?”

do we worship?

• Not because we have

our minds and are following blindly.
• Spiritual = where we get our modern word “logic,” so this is our logical, , or rational response to the worship of God.
is a whole-life response to the mercies of God in Jesus Christ.
• This is the only right response of those who have been redeemed >> Romans 11:36 | For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Can you surrender today and make that your prayer, “God, use my life to make your name famous among the people around me – whatever it takes.”

• E.S. Jones >> If you don’t make up your mind, your unmade mind will unmake you.
